Vase run continues as Manor beat Town at 2nd attempt

Eton Manor took full advantage of their replay to dismiss Canning Town 3-0 in a stylish performance at Capershotts.  The visitors travelled in the knowledge that they'd more than held their own against theie Senior League opponents in the first game, but they were rarely able to contain the rampant Manor side in the replay.  Jack Leachman, Joe Bricknell and Tommy Phillips all notched their first goals for the club to send Manor through to an all Essex Senior League clash with London APSA in the next round.

Manor fightback to deny Hullbridge

Eton Manor had to stage a dramatic fightback to secure a share of the spoils at Hullbridge after a nightmare opening quarter hour left them staring a 2-0 deficit.  In truth it should have been all three points for the visitors, as they completely took control of proceedings from the 20 minute mark.  However, they had to wait until the final 20 minutes for the 2 goals that restored parity.  Jake Giddings notched his first for the club from the spot after the home keeper upended Jerry Nkrumah and then Courtney Linton (below) headed home the equaliser with 7 minutes remaining. Full report to follow here.

Durrant adds two comeback kids to squad for Hullbridge trip

Eton Manor boss Kevin Durrant has secured the signatures of two members of last season's squad this week and has added them to his squad for the weekend trip to Hullbridge.  Taylor Nathaniel (below, left) and Jerry Nkrumah (below, right) have both signed on and are available for selection on Saturday.  Taylor signed for Manor last February, after being released from Luton Town and made a positive impression in his handful of appearances.  However, he suffered an injury in the final league game of the season which ruled him out of the Gordon Brasted Trophy Final.  Jerry Nkrumah returned to Manor last season after a year at Enfield 1893, and scored 11 goals on his return.  He will be looking to add to that tally this season.

10 man Manor fight back to salvage draw

Eton Manor secured an opening day point at Sawbridgeworth Town despite playing for 55 minutes with 10 men after young full back Danny Lock saw red on his debut for two bookable offences.  Worse was to follow as the home side scored from  close range half way through the second half, however, the visitors were onyl behind for five minutes as substitute Kieren Bishop fired home on his debut.  Click here for full report.

Manager Kevin Durrant said: "I was disappointed with our first half display, but with our backs to the wall in the second half I thought we showed courage and character to ensure we got a point.  With a little more composure in the final third we could have nicked it late on, but I think a draw was probably about right."

Manor round off pre-season by beating Ilford

Eton Manor concluded their pre-season programme by defeating Ilford of Ryman League Division One North 1-0.  Last season's top goalscorer Courtney Linton headed in the decisive goal midway through the second half.

Lodge edge out Manor in entertaining clash

Wadham Lodge FC emerged victorious 4-2, after an entertaining pre-season game played in three 30 minute segments.  The first period ended without score, however it was the Olympian side that struck first in the second period.  Manor responded with two fine goals scored by new signing Daniel Hanshaw and Alan Browne.  However, Lodge hit back to end the 2nd period 2-2 and then scored direct from the kick off of the 3rd period to lead 3-2, before adding a late 4th from a set piece, as the Manor took the opportunity to make final decisions on a number of trialists.

Thomas announced as new Skipper

Eton Manor Manager Kevin Durrant has formally announced the appointment of Tyrone Thomas (below) as the new club captain. Thomas, who made his debut for the Manor in a 3-0 defeat by Barking on Easter Monday 2010, was the club’s second highest appearance maker last season and firmly established himself at the heart of the defence.

Former club captain Dean Frett remains with the club, but has stood down as skipper after serving in that role for 2 and a half seasons. Durrant said: “I’m delighted to confirm Tyrone as our new captain. He was outstanding for us last season and I am now looking to him to step up and lead our side, especially as we bed in some younger players."

”I’d also like to place on record my thanks and appreciation for the efforts of Dean Frett (below) as club captain over the last 2 and a half years. He has led this club with a genuine sense of pride and responsibility. His work commitments along with doing the knowledge have meant that he isn’t quite able to commit to the same degree as in previous years, and we agreed that it would be better for everyone in the circumstances to take the pressure of the captaincy away from him. Dean remains an experienced and valued member of the squad and we look forward to his continuing contribution and to the contribution of Tyrone as our new skipper.”

No official vice captain has been appointed at this stage.
